HOPE!

Thursday I went to Godspeed You! Black Emperor, who were playing live at the Astra. It was beautiful and loud and disturbing and very very slow and it felt it would last for an eternity. Their music is like the end of the world, and the show was opened with the word HOPE projected on the wall. I couldn't do any photos... just listened with rapt attention, almost devotional.

from the dead flag blues:
i said: "kiss me, you're beautiful -- these are truly the last days."
you grabbed my hand and we fell into it like a daydream or a fever.
we woke up one morning and fell a little further down --
for sure it's the valley of death.
i open up my wallet and it's full of blood..

Another inspirational piece from László Moholy-Nagy: Ein Lichtspiel Schwarz Weiss Grau:

And also the music of A Silver Mt.Zion:

a silver mt. zion: 13 angels standing guard 'round the side of your bed

Paired with a dazing video:

a silver mt. zion: Stumble then rise on some awkward morning
